My second video review is of the closing session keynote speaker for the FALL CUE 2013, Angela Maiers. (You can see that I am still on the "teacher high" from CUE.) The CUE conference runs for two days and many teachers only go for the first day, but the people who were willing to stay all the way to the end of the day on Saturday will probably never forget listening to this amazingly inspirational woman speak to our hearts about the value of educating the whole child. I know I never will. There were moments when there were tears in my eyes, and when she spoke about following your passions and creating a place in the classroom for children to follow their passions…and then specifically mentioned “dolphins”,
I felt as though she were reading my mind and my heart.
Enough said by me; please go watch her presentation and check out her website
CHOOSE 2 MATTER to see how we can get children of any age inspired to come to school again and empowered to know that even a kindergartener can make a real difference in this world!
I have already planned my Project Based Learning Units for this year, but I definitely plan to include Choose 2 Matter into my curriculum for next year. If you are new to PBL and want to find out more about it, check out the Buck Institute website linked below. That’s a great
place to start.
